GALACTIC SPACE R0XX: LEGIONS OF DESTRUCTION OFFICIAL SPAWNSET EDITOR

the spawnset editor let's you dictate which enemies spawn when and how many of them. The program is quite featureful so you can get creative and make the enemies spawn in pretty much whichever combination you can think of.

Short explanation: open the program, edit your spawnset either from scratch or from the default one, save your spawnset to a file and then load it from the settings menu in the game.

Long explanation:

First terminology.

  • Spawn: an enemy type that spawns on a cooldown. That enemy may spawn only a selected amount of times or infinite times within that timeframe. That enemy may spawn a few duplicates each time it spawns, effectively multiplying the total amount of times it spawns, or it may spawn once every time.
  • Spawnlist: a list of up to 13 different spawns that is active for a defined duration of time. A spawnlist may have a name, but it has no gameplay relevance.
  • Spawnset: a set of spawnlists. A spawnset may contain as much spawnlist as you'd like (although the editor gets laggy with more than 30ish lists). When a player plays through an entire spawnset, the last spawnlist repeats itself with reduced cooldowns (every spawn gets its cooldown multiplied by 0.96).

Steps to creating a spawnset broken down:

  1.  Open the editor. first you'll have to decide whether you wish to start with the default spawnset as a base or start from scratch. To use the default spawnset click the "load default" button at the top. To start with a blank file, stay with the empty lists that appeared by themselves.
  2. You may edit one spawnset at a time, the active file you are working on representing a spawnset. Each line represents a spawnlist and every enemy icon on the right of a list represents a spawn within that list.
  3. Dictate the duration of each list by changing the value in the "duration" field.
  4. Dictate the order of the lists by dragging them from the leftmost button.
  5. Give the lists meaningful names to help keep track of what happens when.
  6. Click on different enemy icons to edit every spawn within that list.
    1. On each spawn, edit its cooldown by entering a number in the "cooldown" field and choosing whether that number is in seconds or frames.
    2. Edit "repeats" to choose how many times this spawn activates, or leave it -1 to have it repeat as many times as the cooldown lets it activate until the spawnlist duration runs out. The program won't let you enter a minus, so if you want to return it to -1 just delete the entire field and press enter.
    3. Edit "spawn num" to make it spawn a few duplicates of that enemy every time. If more than one enemy spawns at once, they are spread at even degrees from the player, meaning that if you spawn 4 at once, their angle from the player is random, but their angles to one another will be exactly 90 degrees (with the player in the middle).
  7. Press the plus in the bottom to add a new list, or drop on it an existing list to duplicate it.
  8. Drop a list in the trash can in the top right corner to delete it.
  9. When you are done editing your set, save it as a .spnst file.
  10. To use your set, enter the game. Go to settings>spawnset settings>load spawnset and select your file.
